I dream of a day when I will no longer need to write about why using fat suits is insulting, unnecessary, and lazy. Unfortunately, today is not that day, because here we are again. Sarah Paulson has been in the news this week after being criticized by almost anyone with half a brain for donning “body accoutrements” in the new series Impeachment: American Crime Story.

Tripp-ing the Light Fattastic

In an interview with the LA Times, Paulson spoke about her portrayal of Linda Tripp, as well as delving into whether she thinks wearing a fat suit was actually a good idea.

“It’s very hard…

As I’ve gotten more and more entrenched in the worlds of true body liberation and fat acceptance, the pervasiveness of diet culture has been overwhelming. A few years ago, I probably would have thought diet culture was mostly just companies like Jenny Craig and the way that new scientifically proven! methods for eating came up every year or two.

My entire experience of moving through the world as a fat woman is tangibly affected by the stigma around fat bodies that this culture creates.

From where I stand now, I can see that dozens of aspects of my life, of…

I’ve been binge listening to Emma Austin’s podcast, Pillow Talk. It’s so relatable and it feels like hanging out with the best kinds of friends. Not only is it super sexy, but it makes me laugh, and it makes me think. In the third episode, the discussion turned to the always-hot topic of squirting, and in particular squirting with new people and the concept of not being comfortable squirting with someone new.

I didn’t become a squirter until I was in my 30s and started to come into my own sexually. It was a surprise at first, and over the…

Some women call their stretchmarks tiger stripes, proud of the work they’ve been through, the way their bodies roared and morphed to create them. People covet their scars as reminders of the things they’ve experienced, traumas and triumphs. And from my first scene, I relished being marked.

Bruises bloom under skin, pink to red to dark purple and finally into muted saffron. A rainbow of memories that keep connection and excitement alive long after everyday life has resumed. …

The articles began to appear immediately after Sports Illustrated put on their annual swimsuit issue runway show, which took place the weekend of July 10.

2021 ‘Sports Illustrated’ Fashion Show Was the Brand’s Most Inclusive Yet

The headlines were followed by articles praising SI for including less-modelly models. CTV went as far to say that the show featured models of “all ages, sizes and races.

Wait, what? All ages, sizes, and races…

When I began exploring polyamory, I definitely did not expect the amount of terminology I’ve had to learn. Five years in, I drop words like metamour, compersion, and polyfidelity without thinking, and when I’m leading discussion group I always request that people please interrupt me if they need a definition. Polysaturation is one of those words, a concept that comes up a bit less often but which is unique to non-monogamous romantic relationships.

What is polysaturation?

In monogamous relationships, romantic saturation happens at 1 partner. The status quo is that you give all of your relationship energy and time to the one person…

Parenting is difficult at any age, but when you’re parenting small children, the ground feels steadier. Guidelines and lessons are rooted in simple values, and getting back to the basics like kindness, consideration, and safety is pretty easy. No, we don’t hit people. Yes, we should be kind. Yes, if we make a mess we should clean it up.

Teendom comes on suddenly. Almost overnight they have opinions based in actual reality, and you look at them and realize they’re approaching adulthood. Then it happens. We were putting a pin on my 14-year-old son’s phone for the night so he…

Sex-positive people believe that sexual activity between consenting adults is a natural part of being human, and that sexual exploration and pleasure are healthy and nothing to be ashamed of. Being a sex-positive parent means that I want my kids to grow up without the shroud of shame and secrecy that too often surrounds sex in our culture. I want them to feel empowered, to learn to love themselves and their bodies, and to understand what having responsible sexual relationships looks and feels like.

I don’t want to have “the talk” with my boys, I want sex and sexuality to…

Like the rest of my relationship with my body, the one with my breasts has been a journey. I remember my first training bra. It was sky blue, with a white band. My mother handed it to me in her small bedroom in the house that seemed so big to me then. I was equal parts embarrassed and excited, but that’s about all I remember. I don’t even remember wearing it.

I’ve never been very well-endowed in the chest area, my breast buds turned tubular and I was self-conscious about their shape. I didn’t need a bra even in high…

Practicing rope bondage is a versatile and multi-faceted hobby. I fell in love with it for a variety of reasons. People get involved in rope for different reasons: for some it’s part of their sex life, for some it’s an art form. Some see it as a sport, others as a hobby, and others as a way to connect with like-minded people who are on the same wavelength.

I first tried rope going on seven years ago when my new boyfriend introduced me to that world. I was curious, and in a very exploratory phase of my life. Since then…
